EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Systems Engineer - Mobility Services in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position will be at the forefront of ensuring high-performance and reliable internet connectivity and telecommunication services for the aeronautical and maritime sectors. Leveraging extensive experience in internet connectivity and telecommunication systems, you will play a vital role in managing the services and systems qualification process to meet the unique requirements for aeronautical and maritime systems. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the qualification process for internet connectivity and telecommunication services and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Manage the testing, validation, and certification of services and equipment, guaranteeing reliability and performance.
• Identify opportunities to enhance internet connectivity and telecommunication performance for aeronautical and maritime environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement high-speed data, voice, and video communication solutions.
• Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of infrastructure tailored to the specific needs of aeronautical and maritime settings.
• Ensure infrastructure components are resilient, scalable, and meet industry standards.
• Partner with network engineering teams to establish rigorous maintenance schedules and monitoring systems to maximize network uptime and reliability.
• Implement redundancy and failover mechanisms to ensure uninterrupted connectivity in critical situations.
• Develop strategies to improve system scalability to accommodate increasing demands and to ensure optimal performance.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
• 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer with a strong focus on telecommunication, networking, and cloud services

Preferred Qualifications:

• Comprehensive knowledge of databases and software development principles.
• Proficiency in networking technologies and infrastructure design.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco Certified Network Professional).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with satellite communications, 5G technologies, and IoT applications in aeronautical and maritime settings

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
