Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Senior Principal Semiconductor Process Applications Engineer for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.
Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry provides unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities spanning from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. Candidates must be strong team participants, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful as well as multi-disciplinary. A strong understanding of data management, manufacturing process development, applications design, equipment automation, and software systems engineering are essential.
The Senior Principal Semiconductor Process Applications Engineer must possess knowledge of semi-conductor manufacturing, should be experienced with sustainment and administration of manufacturing execution systems, sustainment and administration of statistical process control systems, Agile development, and equipment control networks. Engineer should also be familiar with a wide variety of metrology tools, and data analysis and visualization tools. The selected candidate should be hands on, have an aptitude for technology development and demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others as well as experienced in process flow optimization.
The Senior Principal Semiconductor Process Applications Engineer will be responsible for:
All functions related to the administration of our foundry Statistical Process Control systems, digital transformation of manual data sources, and design of novel applications for process control. Support superconducting line including assisting with database management, data visualization, and metrics reporting. The Process Applications Engineer will interface with other unit process engineers and product integration engineers to develop processes to support new products as well as continuous improvement of legacy products.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science or any related STEM degree with 8 years technical related experience in semiconductor fabrication, or Master’s Degree with 6 years experience; PhD with 3 years experience
• Hands-on knowledge and operation of Semi-conductor fabrication equipment in any of the following process areas: PVD, CVD, Diffusion, Implant, Photolithography, Wet Etch, Plasma etch, wafer-level metrology, CMP, and Waferbonding.
• Experience with semiconductor fabrication.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience in design of software architecture and/or digital applications development.
• Experience with FactoryWorks®, SiView®, or similar semi-conductor MES.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control methodologies and data management.
• US Citizenship required
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a compound and Si semiconductor foundry.
• Experience with relational and non-relational database management.
• Experience with synchronous and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with Agile project tracking applications such as JIRA or similar.
• Experience as an application administrator for LineWorks SPACE or similar Statistical Process Control software.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization applications such as JMP, Tableau, and MS Power BI.
• Experience in requirements definition, systems architecture design, and life cycle management of software systems.
• Experience in the design of process automation, equipment control, and hardware-software interfacing systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions.
• Ability and desire to assume a technical leadership role within the organization.

Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
