Job Overview & Responsibilities
As a Vulcan Development Avionics Components Encryption Engineer, you will be responsible for handling the development and integration of commercial AES-256 and NSA Type 1 avionics components including data acquisition devices and video systems. This position will be the responsible engineer for the new system and component development which includes development of requirements, architecture, design, verification/qualification, and vendor management.
This engineering position will be working on avionics development where responsibilities may include:
- Certified Responsible Engineer (CRE) for encryption, telemetry/instrumentation and video hardware.
- Supporting system architecture and design efforts.
- Developing requirement specifications and supporting development and test of new components.
- Work with team leads and management to execute trades studies and architecture/component down-selection.
- Hardware vendor selection and program execution, developing schedules and technical plans alongside vendors.
- Create test plans and execute testing with ULA vendors and commercial test houses.
- Support and drive component and system SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, and other gate reviews.
- Manage multiple development and test programs simultaneously.

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Understanding of telemetry/instrumentation systems, components, video systems, and sensors.
- Experience with system or component development utilizing AES-256 and/or NSA Type 1 encryption.
- Experience with digital communication busses and protocols including RS-422/485 and Ethernet.
- Experience reviewing, editing and providing feedback on complex engineering drawings, parts lists, PMP, Derating, WCA, thermal analysis, test procedures, SOWs, engineering estimates, and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, coordination and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make challenging, quick-turn decisions to ULA requirements and test parameters.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks and activities with cross-functional team members.
- Experience with system level design and ability to create and review specifications, schematics, and interconnect diagrams.
- Self-motivated to manage and close on assignments, testing, and vendor execution.
- Experience with communicating with customers, vendors, and chief engineers
- Available to work test-related issues outside of business hours and available to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security.
- Experience with telemetry, instrumentation and video systems
- Knowledge of program/project management principles.
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $106,904.00 - $166,989.00
Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
