We are looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator within our Operations team at our Montreal office.

Role:
Reporting to the Director of Product Assurance, Environment, and Health & Safety, the Coordinator is responsible for the administration of health and safety at work files including, the administration of the health and safety committee functions, coordinating health and safety at work training and purchasing material related to this function.
Tasks:
Under the supervision of the Manager;
1. Health and Safety Committee Administration:
- Coordinates and leads the health and safety committee meetings,
- Prepares minutes
- Ensures follow-up on actions
- Publishes minutes.
2. Work Accident and Incident Tracking:
- Conducts accident and incident investigations with the concerned managers.
- Identifies risks and takes necessary corrective actions.
- Participates in the development of procedures and assists concerned managers in the implementation of safe work procedures.
- Answers questions and complaints related to potential risks and takes necessary measures.
- Responsible for the first aid team that intervenes in case of accident and is a member of it.
- May participate in the administration of CSST files in collaboration with the human resources department.
- Ensures that work practices and corrective measures are in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
- Maintains records and statistics related to work accidents and incidents.
3. Health and Safety Training:

Identifies needs and prepares the health and safety training schedule and ensures its implementation.

Coordinates all occupational health and safety training (WHMIS, first aid, forklifts, working at heights, CPR, defibrillation, fall prevention, slings and overhead cranes, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, confined spaces, electrical work,).

The coordinator can prepare and deliver the following courses:
CPR, defibrillation, oxygen therapy, WHMIS, cyanide burns, hydrofluoric acid burns, respiratory protection (PPE leak test), back injury prevention.
4. Knowledge of laws, standards and regulations:
- Ensures company compliance
- Participates in the design and implementation of projects on production floors
- Provides support to managers, engineers and employees regarding health and safety issues.
5. Emergency plan:
- Coordinates the emergency response plan.
- Coordinates and updates evacuation plan.
- Trains area supervisors and messengers.
6. Building inspections
- Coordinates and participates in building inspections with responsible managers and follows up on corrective actions.
- Prepares and distributes reports
7. Evaluates the ergonomic layout of certain workstations and makes recommendations.
8. With the Manager, drafts and updates occupational health and safety procedures and prevention programs.
9. Responsible for purchasing medical equipment, personal protective equipment including safety shoes and glasses, and health and safety training.
10. Dosimeters: Coordinates reports, changes dosimeters and displays reports.
11. Prepares schedule for inspection of first-aid kits, eyewash stations and emergency showers for security guards.
12. Welcomes new employees to make them aware of occupational health and safety.
13. Plans and coordinates health and safety activities such as vaccination campaigns, health and safety week, etc.
Minimum qualifications :
Education: Training in Occupational Health and Safety (CEGEP level or certificate).
Experience: 3 to 5 years' experience in occupational health and safety in an industrial environment.
Training: First responder training an asset
Skills: Very good communicator (oral and written).
Comments/Special Considerations :
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
