This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will support the design, development, and test of launch vehicle mechanical systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the entire design cycle of mechanical subsystems, including conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, structural analysis, development testing and qualification.
Generate 3-D models, component drawings, assembly drawings, and interface control documents with application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
Create documentation for assembly and testing of development and flight hardware
Participate in subsystem level testing including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
Develop component specifications and manage suppliers
Provide manufacturing and production support
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of recent experience designing Aerospace or equivalent type mechanical system elements within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools (CREO preferred).
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in DAQ system operation (NX/Dewesoft) and Sensor setup/troubleshooting
Experience in Electromechanical controls and operations.
Experience in Creo (Pro-E) kinematic mechanism design or other mechanism analysis tools.
Experience in primary flight control actuator design.
Experience in aerospace deployable devices design such as doors, landing gear or sensors.
Experience in aerospace hydraulic system component design or system architecture design.
Experience in Spacecraft Separation Systems design.
Experience in structural FEA using ANSYS, NASTRAN or similar tools.
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $89,820.00-$125,748.00Other site ranges may differ
