As part of a diverse and hardworking team of experts, you will manage the software and provide the system expertise for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of managing applications for the broader organization.  We build state-of-the art software and analyze data to uncover patterns for quick decision making. We design systems that track millions of physical parts and complex manufacturing activities in remote locations.

As an Application Engineer, you will work on rewarding problems and interesting technologies. You will have an eager set of customers who seek out help from you. This is a new and growing team within Blue and you have the opportunity to shape how it operates.

This position will manage systems that are used in the following domains:

  • Accounting/Finance

  • Supply Chain

  • Human Resources

  • Legal

  • Manufacturing

  • Test & Flight Operations

  • Engineering

  • Sales and Marketing

What makes our Application Engineers successful?

  • A strong bias for automating everything – we dislike and avoid manual processes.

  • Technical breadth and depth with a strong understanding of emerging trends.

  • A natural curiosity. You will be tasked with problems that nobody knows how to solve and you will need to figure out the solution with minimal direction / guidance.

  • Humility and a willingness to operate in unfamiliar domains. A strong “customer first” personality and desire to be a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities:

  • Support commercial off-the-shelf software and cloud systems, including administration, configuration, customization, and upgrades

  • Work directly with internal customers to understand business problems and decompose into solutions within the systems you manage

  • Work directly with vendors to evaluate systems for feasibility and technical fit against business requirements

  • Write code to automate business processes and build integrations between systems

  • Represent the team/organization in steering committees with stakeholders from across the company.

  • Gather user feedback/bug reports.

  • Create/manage support tickets with vendors. Investigate/troubleshooting performance issues and application behavior Plan and perform upgrades of systems

  • Understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and ITSM (IT Service Management) best practices

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • Understanding of modern software development practices Interest in analyzing and troubleshooting distributed systems

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Java, Python, or JavaScript

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $148,014.00-$207,218.55
