Position Overview: The Production Engineering Department is seeking an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to work with IPT (Integrated Product Teams) to usher the product through the manufacturing process to delivery.  The successful candidate will possess the ability to influence, grow and evolve within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, monitoring and troubleshooting manufacturing operations related to circuit cards and electro-optical assemblies
  • Reviewing and approving product designs and drawings for manufacturability and identifying tooling and fixture requirements
  • Designing, reviewing, and approving tooling and fixtures and developing the processes for using them
  • Developing and maintaining work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes are capable of meeting approved design requirements and revising or developing new processes as required.
  • Working in a cross-functional team while developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; a concentration in Electrical Engineering is a plus.

Plus Skills:

  • Prior experience in the aerospace or defense industry preferred
  • ACE, 6 sigma and/or equivalent management system experience preferred
  • Experienced user of PTC Creo Parametric

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of electronics assembly experience
  • Planning, monitoring and troubleshooting manufacturing operations related to circuit cards and electro-optical assemblies
  • Reviewing and approving product designs and drawings for manufacturability and identifying tooling and fixture requirements
  • Designing, reviewing, and approving tooling and fixtures and developing the processes for using them
  • Developing and maintaining work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
  • Understanding of facility and assembly process development including capacity planning and project management
  • Self-disciplined, with the ability to lead problem solving teams and drive results through the implementation of standard work, process certification and other root-cause corrective action tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and escalate issues as required.
  • Familiarity with IPC J-Standard (IPC J-STD-001) and NASA Standards (NASA-STD 8739.x)
  • Able to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of CAD and working with 3D models
  • Understanding of common measurement and inspection equipment such as torque wrenches, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, thread gauges, CMM’s, etc.
  • Basic understanding of general machining processes and capabilities
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high degree of flexibility.
  • Well versed in MS Office Suite; Word and Excel required
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

EHS/Environmental Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions, occasionally operate tools and/or machinery with hands and arms and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. The employee will use protective equipment when working with chemicals, move between workstations, reach, and replace equipment, and move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
