Position Overview (Summary/Objective):

The Optical CNC Programmer IV will lead the operation of CNC machines in a precision production environment while mentoring team members. The technician will perform, based on standardized technical work instruction, activities including edging, beveling, and blocking of optical materials. The technician will assist production engineers in defining opportunities for process improvement and assist in execution of these activities. As required, the technician will assist in defining root cause and developing corrective actions following a machine anomaly. Other duties will include advanced maintenance, advanced programming, and machine troubleshooting.

 

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Completion of daily and long-term taskings as directed by the group/team lead
  • Blocking and unblocking of optical materials
  • Advanced CNC operation including programming of 2D and 3D machining tasks
  • Interpreting technical drawings and assisting engineering in the development of technical work instructions
  • Troubleshooting of advanced machine anomalies
  • Advanced machine maintenance
  • Mentorship of team members as appropriate
  • Maintaining the general cleanliness of the assigned work area

 

Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 8+ years in a machining environment preferred
  • Strong math aptitude required
  • Knowledge of Mastercam required
  • Knowledge of Fagor, Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar CNC control system required
  • Knowledge of Vericut preferred
  • Optical experience preferred
