Position Overview:

 

The Optical Metrology Lead will manage a team responsible for employing scientific and mathematical principles to collect and analyze data across processes and products.  In this role, you will be a hands-on leader to a world-class team of metrology engineers and technicians, while developing and executing initiatives of the Optical Manufacturing organization.  You will collaborate across the business by partnering with cross functional stakeholders to solve complicated problems with a focus on improving manufacturability and efficiency.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and influence team of Metrology Engineers and Technicians in daily operations while providing long-term vision of exceptional program execution while streamlining manufacturing operations processes and procedures.
  • Serve as an interface to the Program Office, while aligning Metrology resources and solutions for Programs.
  • Identify areas of enhancement while clearly communicating risk and opportunities.
  • Partner with customers and internal program teams on proposal strategies, development and management presentations.
  • Reporting program status and communicating critical issues to external and internal customers, as well as offering solutions and implementing corrective action when necessary.
  • Financial management related to departmental budget
  • Motivate, mentor and guide a team with varying degrees of experience.
  • Manage full cycle program technical requirements including but not limited to, supporting RFQs, reading and interpreting drawings and supporting tooling efforts.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Materials Science, Physics, or related degree preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience required with 0-3 years of direct team management. 
  • Proven experience in leading, motivating, coaching, and training others through direct management or project management. 
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high degree of flexibility. 
  • Ability to communicate and present clear, concise objectives to all levels of the organization while identifying and sharing risks and opportunities. 
  • ERP experience, SAP preferred. 
  • Optics and/or aerospace/defense experience preferred
