Job Overview & Responsibilities

The Site Leader provides senior leadership, project management, cost account management and operations oversight across multiple disciplines in the execution of launch operations activities at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB).
Responsibilities include:

  • Focus on people, safety, processing, quality, cost, schedule, and launch of Vulcan products at VSFB, and supports the same for Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS).
  • Formulate objectives and strategies ensuring alignment with Launch Operations, programs, and ULA goals. Ensuring on-time launches, achieving aggressive cost reduction targets, and sustaining mission success.
  • Build and leads a cohesive team, establishes an appropriate program organization, and works through others to achieve results. Focuses team members toward a common goal to achieve desired program/project performance. Emphasis on aligning all resources to support the processing and launch of launch vehicles to meet our customer needs. Translate strategy into actionable objectives and business plans.
  • Develop, document and implement a repeatable Business Rhythm and Program Execution Plan that satisfies stakeholders and meets program/project needs.
  • Act as primary customer contact for program activities and foster customer relationships.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate resource demands and hold Control Account Managers accountable for planning, performing, and managing work packages.
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules.
  • Identify program problems, risks and opportunities, and develop and implement action plans and solutions.
  • Oversee key supplier activities, assures supplier integration into the program Business Rhythm, and interfaces with supplier’s senior leadership.
  • Occasionally be a delegate for the General Manager/Director of Launch Operations. The leader supports development, planning, and execution of Employee Morale events.
  • Oversees development, integration and maturation of design concepts and engineering efforts over the product life cycle (research, development, integration, verification/test and delivery).
  • Assures and documents a consistent engineering baseline and applies rigorous process methodology throughout the development cycle to prevent escapes.
  • Implements and tracks achievement of technical performance measures and utilizes leading indicators to predict performance and guide decision making.

Minimum of 10 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Applicable experience directing all phases of programs from conception through completion, including cost, schedule and technical performance.
  • Experience building and leading a team, demonstrating leadership aptitude.
  • Experience developing and implementing repeatable business rhythms across programs and expanding product lines with customers.
  • Understanding of risk management principles, demonstrated solid decision-making skills, and ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Applicable skills in an operations environment.
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams.
  • Community and Customer relations experience.
  • Ability to travel to other ULA sites when needed, potentially on short notice.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD TS/SCI is required. US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Vandenberg AFB only): $162,386.00 - $301,952.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
