This role is a part of Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to Business Units with the focus on design, build and maintenance of the ground systems, test and launch facilities across multiple locations.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will lead the design, testing, deployment and maintenance of DAQ (Data Acquisition) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of various ground systems including GSE, EGSE, tooling and facilities. The ideal candidate would have a proven background in software development for control systems, as well as experience with electrical and hardware designs. A diverse background with methods, products, and applications with some experience in an aerospace environment is a plus.

In this role you will coordinate the Data Systems & Controls Engineering software focused design and application team. This will include design and continuing development of our common DAQ and PLC software architecture and applications. You will maintain a 5-year plan for the team and work with the individuals on the team to help them prioritize their work and set goals; you will handle performance reviews and other management tasks. In addition to the leadership and management, you will perform technical work, including design, troubleshooting, and mentorship of less experienced engineers. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining related process and procedures, effectively communicating to your team, management and other teams at Blue (internal design teams, operations teams, the Quality organization, and business units).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead DSCE systems software development
  • Assist with SCADA and HMI development
  • Start up, commission, test, verify and validate DSCE systems
  • Resolve, modify, update deployed hardware and software
  • Develop requirements relating to DSCE systems
  • Guide development and improvement of processes and procedures
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to drive personal and professional development.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship, foster a culture of collaboration and professional growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering. Other engineering or science degrees or work history will be considered if experience in above responsibilities is met
  • 5 years or greater relevant experience with DAQ, PLC or motion based programming
  • 2+ years in software leadership (LabVIEW preferred, C# or other languages accepted)
  • 0 - 5 years of personnel management
  • Organized, self-starter, capable of breaking down complex problems into traceable tasks
  • Proven track record to lead teams and mentor junior systems engineers
  • Use excellent judgement and be comfortable making high-quality and high-velocity decisions
  • Knowledge of industry standard network communication protocols
  • Exhibit ability to adapt and excel in changing, growing environment
  • Excellent communication with peers
  • Meticulous attention to detail and configuration control
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C++, C
  • Experience with DAQ and PLC software development environments
  • Rockwell Studio 5000®, FactoryTalk AssetCentre®
  • LabVIEW Real-Time, Git Repository
  • Experience working with electrical control systems and industrial sensors and actuators: pressure, temperature, LVDT, bridge, accelerometers, and motion/servo controller
  • Familiar with the use of electrical and signal troubleshooting equipment such as Digital Multimeter, Process Calibrator, Oscilloscope
  • Familiar with NEC70, NFPA79, UL508A, UL698A
  • Aerospace experience
