Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for either a DevOps Principal Software Engineer or a Sr. Principal DevOps Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida. DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing and managing the Cloud infrastructure. Duties include deploying product updates, setting up software factory, virtual machines, containers, and orchestration. The role will have a large impact on team productivity and as such requires an understanding of the software development lifecycle and various automation tools for developing digital pipelines (CI/CD pipelines). The DevOps engineer will support integration of software for use across multi-domain/multi-platform scenarios using software engineering best practices and standards and participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, formal system testing within a cluster environment, release, installation, and maintenance of clusters.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage cloud infrastructure tools and data

  • Manage and improve container orchestration and deployment strategies

  • Develop tools to manage continuous integration, software stack support, code quality and coverage

  • Ensure and develop tools for monitoring security, privacy, and integrity of data and other resources

  • Setup an overall Cloud-native Software Factory

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with at least 5 years of experience in software engineering OR a Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with at least 3 years of experience in software engineering

  • Senior Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with at least 9 years of experience in software engineering OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with at least 7 years of experience in software engineering.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Experience developing software with C/C++/Python/Java

  • Experience with tools/technologies in a DevOps Environment (e.g. Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, Confluence, Docker)

  • Experience scripting with some or all: YAML, JSON, Python, BASH, PowerShell

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware

  • Experience working within an Agile environment

  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, CMake, and Eclipse, Visual Studio Code

  • Knowledge of Linux systems and basic commands

  • Proficiency with Cloud Technology (Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud Metrics Tools)

Salary Range: $92,600.00 - $139,000.00Salary Range 2: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
