ispace Europe is seeking a highly motivated and talented Director of Business Development & Sales to join the team and develop our commercial lunar services for the European market.
 
The vision of ispace is to expand and sustain humanity’s presence in space by developing a lunar economy built on the resources available on the Moon. ispace Europe is the company’s regional office located in Luxembourg, in the heart of Europe. We are a small team, motivated by the challenges of the Lunar Frontier, and determined to achieve the company’s vision.
 
The Director of Business Development and Sales is responsible for driving the growth and expansion of our transportation and data business at ispace Europe. This pivotal position demands an individual who not only possesses a strategic mindset but also excels in cultivating strong relationships with governments, space agencies, and commercial partners across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The successful candidate will be instrumental in propelling ispace's presence in the region, leveraging their expertise to navigate government programs, forge commercial consortiums, and secure key projects and customers. We seek someone with a proven track record of orchestrating the entire sales cycle, adeptly communicating with diverse stakeholders, and adeptly leading teams to achieve ambitious goals.
 
Reporting directly to the ispace Europe CEO and collaborating closely with the ispace inc. Chief Revenue Officer, this role necessitates a collaborative approach, self-motivation, and a penchant for decision-making in a dynamic environment. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, verbal, and written communication abilities are essential attributes for this impactful position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 1. Establish the business development and sales strategy for achieving targets and capturing the business opportunity in Europe, Middle East, and Africa
  • Translate the corporate strategy and global business plans into an actionable business plan for ispace Europe.
  • Develop a business development and sales strategy and implementation plan to achieve targets in alignment with ispace global strategy and KPI targets.
  • Structure and prioritize customer segments for the transportation and data markets in Europe.
  • Establish go-to-market approach.
  • Develop innovative service packages and solutions tailored to specific EU region.
  • Develop a communication strategy to position ispace on the European market raise its visibility and promote its reputation in collaboration with global communication team.

  • 2. Drive the implementation of the business strategy
  • Prioritize efforts on leads and accounts in coordination with the team.
  • Monitor sales progress and performance indicators to key milestones (MOUs, contracts).
  • Bring sales to a close by engaging key decision makers and understanding customer needs.
  • Drive progress through the customer acquisition lifecycle via CRM, performance indicator dashboards.
  • Improve understanding of customer needs, iterate plan with regular retrospectives and lessons learned.
  • Promote business innovation & initiatives to create new opportunities.
  • Execute on the communication plan and needs through several activities (e.g. PR, media exposure, ispace Europe events/sponsoring).

  • 3. Coordinate execution of the activities with CRO, EU management, and business teams in other ispace locations
  • Plan, coordinate, and drive internal decision process with ispace US peers, ispace Europe CEO and ispace Chief Revenue Officer through transparent and pro-active communication.
  • Work with stakeholders to continuously improve communication, process efficiency, and collaborations across ispace.
  • Support the integration of business activities with other ispace Europe Management, Finance and Operations, and Engineering

  • 4. Manage the EU business team and lead team to excel
  • Recruit, on-board, and organize the team, structure roles and responsibilities of each member.
  • Provide direction, coaching & support on regular and frequent basis.
  • Motivate and drive the team to achieve short- and mid-term objectives and evaluate performance as part of ispace performance evaluation process.
  • Deliver regular positive/negative feedback for encouragement and continuous improvement.
  • Foster synergistic team dynamics and establish a can-do & ownership mindset.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 10 years’ experience in Business Development, Sales, or related domains.
  • A successfully completed commercial or related degree.
  • Other languages a benefit (German/French/Italian/Japanese).
