Job description

Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.

Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Aerospace Buyer to join our team and report to the Procurement Manager. You will increase operational efficiency by engaging with our vendors, issuing purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, and communicating timelines to internal customers. We prefer that you be proficient in informational flow and communication, which are necessary to success at a smaller, technical organization. You will support the Manufacturing team while facilitating Engineering goals and supporting all organizational groups.

We prefer that you have experience in sourcing chemicals used in solid rocket propellants or other industrial chemicals and are comfortable using modern ERP systems and project management software and have experience communicating both verbally and in writing with our suppliers. This role will ideally be located on-site at our headquarters in Berthoud, Colorado but we are also open to a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Create purchase orders per company procurement requests
  • Ensure delivery dates are aligned with internal need dates
  • Coordinate and regularly communicate the status of open orders, expediting deliveries as necessary
  • Negotiate payment terms and pricing with vendors
  • Assist in the oversight of our vendor management system
  • Establish relationships and build rapport with our suppliers, working with them to ensure prompt delivery and the best rates
  • Integrate with the relevant internal product teams as the primary procurement point of contact
  • Create business analytics to drive strategic business decision making and improve our processes
  • Work alongside internal stakeholders to define business processes as they relate to procurement

Qualifications:

  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, or logistics
  • Experience with sourcing specialty industrial chemicals (experience sourcing chemicals used in solid rocket propellants is a plus)
  • Experience in hardware-centered development environment (experience purchasing for an aerospace or industrial company is a plus)
  • Experience with modern ERP systems (experience with Odoo is a plus)

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $80,000 - $120,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs. Most importantly, we are excited to meet you, and see if you are a great fit for our team. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
