Job Overview & Responsibilities
- Member of the Engineering and Infrastructure Facility Maintenance department. Responsibilities include operational ground electrical/power systems at all ULA launch sites. Primary responsibilities consist of electrical engineering support of the following:
- Electrical, Power, and Electromechanical Systems in the day-to-day execution of launch facility design, maintenance, and operations – focusing on electrical systems
- Coordinate facility electrical support of launch operations and scheduling facility electrical functional support
- Coordinate with technical staff and contractors in the design, operations and maintenance of new/existing electromechanical systems, including insight into the mechanical operation of these systems
- Coordination of Base High Voltage supply infrastructure and readiness in support of Launch Operations
- Launch console support during major operations and testing
- Schedule and execute facility electrical validations and pre-launch checkouts
- Develop new and revise existing operational test procedures and maintenance documentation associated with launch facility electromechanical systems, primary and backup power (medium and low voltage (12kV, 480 VAC, 120VAC, 24V control, etc.) systems.
- Develop facility electrical mission unique capabilities.
- Operation and maintenance of hazardous commodity detection and monitoring systems
- Operate and maintain mobile electrical systems.
- Design, operation, and maintenance of Programmable Logic Controllers or similar firmware controllers, supporting launch facilities and systems
- Disposition of corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to maintenance and production processes
- Apply technical engineering knowledge and expertise in the completion of all aspects of an identified project, including technological considerations, cost/financial administration, and schedule management.
- Develop and coordinate technical portions of proposals, statements of work, and contract specifications. Apply knowledge of regulatory and certifying agency requirements to ensure product and/or service is in compliance. Apply knowledge of functional testing requirements to ensure product and/or service meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Understand and comply with (EWR 127-1) Range Safety design and operational requirements in the performance of duties.
- Support maintenance and improvement projects in close coordination with the sustaining Engineering group to ensure system readiness in support of launch vehicle processing.
Required Education: Bachelor
Required Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred with experience working Electrical and/or Power Engineering. Functional application of NEC/NFPA 70 and 72. Working knowledge of NFPA 70E. Demonstrated communication, writing, and oral skills and can work with a wide range of team members, including customers and subcontractors. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products like Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project. Work will primarily be in an office-type environment, with some field operations and maintenance support (launch pad and processing facilities) involving certification for working at height, working in confined space, and working in areas of stored hazardous rocket propellant commodities and high-pressure gases. Travel between other ULA launch facilities may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience working with large, complex electromechanical systems in an equivalent industrial process is preferred. Attended training and certified in NEC 70 and 70E.
