Position Overview:

In this role you will be part of the Optical Manufacturing team which is responsible for machining precision optics using a variety of CNC machinery. As an experienced CNC Programmer, you will be part of a team which includes Manufacturing and Methods Engineers, CNC Operators, Technologists, Opticians, and Strategy & Analysis Engineers. This position will expose the candidate to various optical manufacturing assignments supporting multiple business units. The core of the assignment is to implement standard CNC programming techniques and protocols across a variety of machine types while supporting production of various optical components. The position will require you to productionize CNC processes to support new and existing machinery and products. 

This position is on 2nd shift- differential included. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manufacturing high precision optics on CNC manufacturing equipment in accordance with manufacturing documentation, process documentation and technical requirements
  • Support the manufacturing team as a subject matter expert in programming. Assist in incorporating industry best practices in the work center
  • Support operators by preparing CNC programs used in optical manufacturing
  • Ensure program check and verification methods are established for the work center
  • Develop manufacturing processes on CNC machinery (e.g., grinders, polishers, multi-axis machining centers, etc…)
  • Recommend and define tools and fixtures to support CNC processes
  • Identify problems and recommend solutions on a variety of the more complex CNC manufacturing issues
  • Draw upon your experience and knowledge of machine control and programming to improve processes and identify opportunities to enhance product quality and increasing efficiency
  • Work in partnership with Optical Methods Engineers and CNC Operators to define process refinements and enhancements
  • Incorporate in-process and post-process inspection and measurement of optical products
  • Implement use of standard tools (e.g. Vericut, MasterCam) across the work center
  • Support full compliance to Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Programming, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Fagor, Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar CNC control system
  • Previous experience with Mastercam required
  • Previous experience with Vericut preferred
