The DevOps Engineer will play a critical role in supporting and advancing the cloud-based software infrastructure used for Flight Software development at Axiom Space. This position will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Software Development, Systems Engineering, and Safety—to design, implement, and enhance a scalable and secure DevSecOps environment aligned with industry best practices. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in cloud-hosted platforms, infrastructure automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to influence decisions, create clear documentation, and foster a collaborative culture. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support evolving mission objectives and stakeholder needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, developer-centric infrastructure to support dynamic and continuous software development workflows
Integrate DevSecOps tools, services, and best practices into the existing cloud-based infrastructure to improve automation, security, and reliability
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, training materials, and presentations to support integration efforts and knowledge transfer across teams
Contribute to the enhancement and automation of current DevSecOps procedures by recommending and implementing innovative tools and approaches
Perform development and administrative tasks in a Linux-based environment
Actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and workflows to ensure timely and efficient delivery of project goals
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including software, systems, and safety—to define project scope, technical requirements, and deliverables
Communicate project status, progress, risks, and roadblocks effectively to team members, stakeholders, and leadership
Support the implementation and maintenance of Agile project management practices throughout the development lifecycle
Perform other duties assigned to support mission-critical objectives and team priorities
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cloud / Computer / Systems Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
5+ years of experience with DevOps Development and/or Administration for Enterprise-level entities
Preferred candidates will also possess some training and/or certifications related to DevOps services and applications especially as it relates to Agile Scrum methodologies
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to address project challenges
Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet tight deadlines and quality objectives
Highly proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Skills
Proficient in containerization technologies such as Docker and Podman, and container orchestration using Kubernetes
Hands-on experience with provisioning, managing, and scaling cloud infrastructure on live production platforms
Working knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform
Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and implementation of security best practices in tool and service development
Familiar with resource load balancing, infrastructure optimization, and securing virtual environments
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across networking, storage, authentication, and application layers
Experienced with Git-based platforms for version control, collaboration, and CI/CD integration
Skilled in integrating automated testing (unit, integration, etc.) into CI/CD pipelines
Comfortable scripting or developing automation in languages such as Go, TypeScript, Python, and/or Rust
Proficient in Linux-based environments for development and system administration
Strong analytical skills, including root-cause analysis and logical problem solving
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
Creative, results-oriented, and self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Effective team player with a collaborative mindset
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task
Requirements
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)
May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
