Why you will Love this role?
We are seeking a seasoned Sensor/Camera Engineer with strong expertise in the architecture, design, and testing of electro-optical systems, with a particular focus on imaging sensors and focal plane assemblies. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in developing and building sensor systems for high-resolution remote sensing applications and is passionate about advancing imaging technology in space.

What will you do in this role?

  • Be a key founding member of the small team responsible for sensor selection, analysis and back-end architecture for high-resolution space-borne imaging instruments. The team will bring the design into full production, commissioning and operations of the imaging instrument, including all phases along the way - testing, qualification, verification and iterating on necessary steps.
  • Be one of the first architects and developers working on the cutting-edge, super fast-paced engineering project with a lot of unknowns. We are looking for someone who is challenge- and mission-driven and can be a leading problem solver for the sensor part of the project.
  • Work with other members of the multidisciplinary team, focused on rapid development and iteration of the new concepts envisioned at ICEYE.

Requirements

What will you need to be successful in this role?

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Expert in optical sensor technology and engineering for very high resolution imaging applications (especially CMOS-based).
  • Knowledge in instrument radiometric calibration, spatial and spectral characteristics, analysis and optimization of the optoelectronics design taking into account key functional parameters of the e2e system. Ability to translate global requirements into performance metrics of the sensor itself, architecture and participate in building the system from the ground up.
  • Experience in selection and bring-up of optoelectronics imaging systems with emphasis on sensor engineering and optical signal collection and processing.
  • Experience in development of the FPGA-based systems used together with the sensor for driving and signal processing.
  • Deep understanding of sensor and optical systems physics, control of the optoelectronics systems as well as CMOS sensors application engineering.
  • Embracing the challenge, mindset of owning problems and solving them, capability of taking risks and leaning forward when needed. R&D style of learning by doing and iterating on the parts that require improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with space-borne optical imager operations.
  • Hands-on experience in architecture and bring-up of the precisely actuated focusing mechanisms.
