Hydrosat is a space and data analytics company building a new Earth Observation constellation and software to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery. Our mission is to capture and deliver high spatio-temporal resolution thermal infrared data, currently not available from other sources, to provide insights that benefit the environment, enhance food and water security, and serve other critical applications. Our downstream applications team in Luxembourg combines best-in-class remote sensing, machine learning, and cutting-edge fusion approaches to thermal imagery to deliver innovative and scalable solutions to the agri-food industry.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a technical leader and strategic contributor across the Applications Engineering department. You’ll design and build scalable, distributed web and mobile applications that leverage thermal space imagery to improve water use efficiency and sustainability. Beyond writing code, you’ll shape the technical direction of teams, influence engineering culture, and proactively identify and solve high-impact challenges across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Cross-Team Leadership: Collaborate with multiple teams across the Engineering department to support their goals, improve deliverable quality, and resolve critical issues.
- Strategic Technical Direction: Identify systemic pain points and lead initiatives to address them with clear deliverables and milestones.
- Roadmap Planning: Drive quarterly planning and help define the technical roadmap in alignment with product and business objectives.
- Engineering Culture: Champion best practices in coding, testing, and architecture. Influence adoption of modern tools and methodologies.
- Product Collaboration: Partner with product managers to shape product requirements and ensure technical feasibility and scalability.
- Mentorship & Growth: Mentor engineers across teams, providing guidance, technical direction, and career development support.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Take initiative in resolving bugs and incidents, even outside your immediate team’s domain.
- Tooling & Monitoring: Lead efforts to improve documentation, implement monitoring tools, and enhance system observability.
- Full-Stack Development: Contribute to the development of complex backend services and customer-facing SPAs using modern technologies.

Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience with a strong track record of technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript or any other modern web/mobile frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence engineering direction.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and scalable system design.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineering talent.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
