NorthStar Earth & Space (“NorthStar”) is the world’s leading space-based data analytics company. We use optical and SSA data as building blocks to create information services tailored to the needs and requirements of clients from both government and industry. Our extensive and patented development portfolio includes orbit dynamics and machine learning algorithms for a variety of applications for space domain awareness and space traffic management. With headquarters in Montreal, Canada, European headquarters in Luxembourg, and US operations in McLean, Virginia, the company is solving the ever-increasing threat of space collisions and empowering humanity to preserve our planet. 

To support the growth of our Luxembourg office, we are looking for a Software Developer.

Who you'll work with    

The Luxembourg team is responsible for building customer facing applications, leveraging space and terrestrial data generated by NorthStar’s satellite-based sensors or from its third-party partners. The team is composed of individuals specializing in orbit dynamics, software development, and artificial intelligence.

We are developing a new set of unique SSA analytical tools that exploit our data to help space operators execute their missions more safely and efficiently. We work closely with the Space Intelligence and Information (SI2) team based in Montreal, which is dedicated to developing innovative solutions for monitoring the space environment using multiple sources of observations and geospatial data.

What you will do

We are counting on you to:  

• 
  Design, implement, test, and deploy the NorthStar processing pipeline and software capabilities.
• Configure and deploy application workflows for automated and on-demand data processing.
• Conduct and participate in technical discussions, design reviews, code reviews and feature verifications with our research and development teams.
• Create and maintain software and products technical documentations (API, Services, etc.).
• Participate in business and technology development discussions to support the successful planning and execution of the product roadmap.

What you bring to the table

• You have a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics or equivalent. A graduate degree is a nice to have.
• You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional software development role.
  
• You have experience using Java, either from a professional/educational background or self-study. Experience in production grade product development is appreciated.
• You are familiar with relational or NoSQL databases.
• You have a self-starter attitude and the ability to work autonomously.
• You show openness, transparency, and collegiality in your everyday work.
• You have strong communication and problem-solving skills, and you are eager to take on new challenges.Familiarity with the following libraries/tools is an asset but not required: Orekit, Temporal.io, PostgreSQL, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes, Gitlab CI.
• You take responsibility for delivering your tasks and can work in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary environment.
