IT Infrastructure Specialist (Tokyo, Astroscale Holdings)

Astroscale Holdings is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Specialist to support our evolving and growing mission IT & Security systems. This is a superb opportunity to work with innovative technologies and showcase the benefits of integrated infrastructure with our cloud systems.  

 

Working under the direction of the Japan Infrastructure Manager, you will deploy VPCs, networking solutions and virtual machines to enable core business functions. It is expected that the systems and configurations deployed using various automation technologies. Experience working with AWS at practitioner level is a must, with or without the associated qualification.

Responsibilitie

The primary focus of this role is the configuration, modification, optimization and security configuration of the on-premises and AWS based infrastructure.  

 

• Performing routine firmware updates on firewalls, switches. 

• Routinely checking external register and relay changes and problems faced with the security team 

• Supporting AWS infrastructure, deploying new VPCs, IAM, EC2, network configurations and storage. 

• Automation and configuration as code; utilizing tools such as Ansible and Terraform. 

• Installation and configuration of virtual machines to include Linux and Windows, often debugging third-party application software, or automating its installation. 

• Proactive maintenance and refinement of the estate and ongoing support, contribution to cost management and security patching of the environments. 

• Support Security analysis including Security event triage when
  required. 

 

You will also form part of the broader IT capability and would be expected to contribute to other initiatives as required including: 

• Microsoft 365, Azure AD applications, services, groups, users, roles, etc. 

• On-premises capabilities as required where cloud computing is not the chosen solution
  (on-premises infra) 

• Work with the global team to troubleshoot
  various IT systems, lookup manuals in Japanese/English, and communicate properly with everyone.  

 

Essential Skills 

• Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or similar background experience 5 years + with basic infrastructure knowledge (OSI layer 1-5). 

• Strong interest in really learning more about the security portion of those layers. 

• AWS practitioner-level experience with experience in supporting AWS in a live environment. 

         Experience in: 

• Networking(subnetting) experience, VPN and network connectivity troubleshooting 

• TCP security – firewalls, security groups, log analysis, root cause analysis 

• Managing estates with Linux (particularly Ubuntu) and windows 

• Configuration management and automation of Linux and Windows (scripting, group policy, Ansible, etc.). 

• Motivative to learn, Proactive, self-starting character with tenacity, autonomy, and ability to work well on your own or within a team, large group of disparate stakeholders.   

• Japanese and English Language Business level 

  

Desirable skills 

• Knowledge or willingness to learn Cyber Security frameworks such as Cyber Security Essentials (among others) and applying policies and using security tools with existing infrastructure. 

• Experience in the support of Windows and Linux
  with a good foundational understanding of the platforms. 

• Understanding of IT frameworks and best practices (e.g. ITIL, AWS foundations, etc)

Location

Kinshicho (Tokyo), with potential for some travel to Astroscale UK (Harwell) or Astroscale France (Toulouse)
