About Satellogic
Satellogic is a vertically integrated Earth Observation satellite and data company. We design, manufacture, and operate our own fleet of satellites, the Aleph-1 constellation, which delivers high-frequency, high-resolution imagery plus full-motion video.
Earth Observation imagery and data are key to monitoring change at scale, informing critical decisions, and ultimately helping solve the world’s most pressing problems. Our mission is to democratize access to this information, making it affordable and available for those who need it across a wide range of industries, from climate monitoring and agriculture, to energy, infrastructure and many more. We want to do our part in building a world where every organization is prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
With about 150 employees spanning 5 countries, Satellogic is a diverse group of purpose-driven professionals across software development, satellite engineering, operations, data science, manufacturing, and sales. We are excited to grow and welcome team members who push the limits, get things done, and never stop learning—all while being humble, honest, and empathetic.
About the team
Our Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for the design and development of the satellite's mechanical systems. This includes structural components, deployment mechanisms, thermal interfaces, and mechanical assemblies that ensure mission reliability in the harsh conditions of space.
The team works at the intersection of design, analysis, and manufacturing, collaborating closely with the Thermal and Structural teams to deliver high-performance, space-qualified hardware. From early-stage concept design through to final integration and testing, we take a hands-on approach to engineering, ensuring our systems are manufacturable, robust, and aligned with the company's production and mission timelines.
Key responsibilities of the team include:
- Designing 3D CAD models and assemblies with manufacturability and reliability in mind.
- Developing detailed 2D drawings, BOMs, and mechanical documentation for production.
- Defining mechanical joining methods (fasteners, adhesives, inserts) and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards.
- Working closely with thermal and structural teams to ensure proper system integration.
- Supporting manufacturing and AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) teams during integration of the satellites.
- Continuously improving design methodologies and product reliability based on flight heritage and manufacturing feedback.
We value engineers who combine technical expertise with a collaborative mindset and a strong attention to detail. The work we do has a direct impact on mission success—and we're looking for people who are ready to make that impact.
Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong technical background and experience in CAD design to join the Mechanical Design team. The role requires functional design and manufacturability criteria, with practical knowledge of mechanical engineering and manufacturing best practices. You will work closely with the entire Mechanical Department, absorbing know-how and leveraging capabilities.
The position has strong growth potential, with the potential to assume greater responsibilities in the future within the Mechanical Design area.
Responsibilities
- Design and model mechanical parts and assemblies in CAD following functional and manufacturability criteria.
- Apply good design for manufacturing (DFM) practices, especially in the aerospace context.
- Integrate mechanical joining criteria (bolting, adhesives, etc.) in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
- Work as a team with the structural and thermal departments to ensure an integrated and consistent design.
- Document assemblies, generate technical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and keep the PLM/CAD system up to date.
- Collaborate and learn from the rest of the team to align with the company's standards and design philosophy.
About you - Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering.
- Proven experience with 3+ years of CAD design (preferably NX).
- Knowledge of manufacturing design, tolerances, production processes, and engineering standards.
- Knowledge of common practices in the aerospace industry (a plus: structural bonds, adhesives, and composite materials).
- Ability to work in a team, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in the aerospace, defense, automotive, or high-precision industries will be a plus.
- Experience in optomechanics will be a plus.
What do we offer
- Be part of a growing company developing high-impact space technology.
- Collaborative, technical, and challenging environment.
- Opportunities for learning and professional growth within the design team.
- Participation in real-world satellite development and integration projects.
Location
This role can be performed remotely from locations within the UTC-5 to UTC+3 time zones, or preferably in a hybrid capacity from Buenos Aires. While our offices are located in Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Montevideo, and Barcelona, it will be preferred to live nearby these locations since this position will require occasional travel to the locations.
Diversity Commitment
Satellogic values diversity and inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer. We are convinced that hiring and developing top talent from around the world for any given discipline will drive innovation, generate new solutions, and deliver a superior product to our global customer base. We work to build an equitable and inclusive environment in which all people, regardless of gender, race, religion, or background, can come together to do their best work.
