Pressure Systems Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Pressure Systems Engineer.  They will primarily be responsible for designing, developing, and testing hardware for the storage and distribution of pressurized gases aboard Axiom Station. This position reports to the Environment Control Life Support System (ECLSS) Pressure Control Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables towards Axiom’s Pressure Control Assembly (PCA)

• Design novel solutions and hardware for human spaceflight pressure system challenges

• Select and source components to meet system requirements considering material compatibility, seals, cleanliness and loads

• Analyze fluid system performance (pressure and flow) to make recommendations for improvement

• Design and operate prototype test rigs for testing PCA hardware

• Create models, test plans, and procedures for verification and validation to ensure designs satisfy requirements

• Solidworks and PDM familiar

• Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership

• Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle

• Perform additional job duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field required

• 5+ years’ experience in pressure systems engineering, microgravity life support engineering, or similar role required. A combined equivalent of education and experience may also be considered

• Experience with high pressure systems (>500 PSI), vacuum systems, or oxygen systems preferred

• Experience with flight hardware design, testing, or certification preferred

• Highly proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task

Requirements 

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position

Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)

• May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
