Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Project Management – Network Release Manager (25-134) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO., is crucial in our mission to support the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • In this role, the candidate will serve as a Network Release Manager responsible for ensuring that NES ART artifacts associated with each Release, Patch, Hotfix, Bugs, etc., accurately reflect work performed on the network
  • In addition, the Release Manager tracks deployed changes in the field to the network and accurately maintains the NES ART portion of the Configuration Management (CM) baseline
  • The Release Manager coordinates with developers, product owners, and engineering managers to ensure that the team meets completion and artifact recording timelines
  • The Release Manager coordinates emergency changes to the network that the team makes because of an operational deficiency or anomaly that creates a degradation of service
  • The Release Manager assigns the highest priority to those fixes to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Candidate will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and presenting KPIs and other metrics related to the Network Enterprise
  • Candidate will manage multiple processes/documents and will be the primary point of contact for the Network Agile Release Train (ART) to other ARTs on the program
  • Coordinates with key program stakeholders such as Configuration Management (CM), Release Management, and Quality Assurance to release Network artifacts and create the media used to apply updates to production
  • Runs Leadership meetings such as the Network Internal Review Panel (NIRP) and the Network Configuration Control Board (NCCB)
  • Any other required tasks by the program

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline or a related field is preferred from an accredited university, and 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree in a related discipline and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience instead of a degree may be considered
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required at the start
  • Experienced in Configuration Management principles and managing multiple processes and schedules from initial task identification through final fielding
  • Experience with IT functions is necessary to assign tasks and manage schedules effectively
  • Experience utilizing CM Tools like:
    • GIT
    • BitBucket, and/or Atlassian (Hive and Jira) to support enterprise configuration management
  • Must have experience developing KPIs, tracking metrics, and creating reports
  • Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers and independently at times on large field projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current active in-scope DoD-issued TS/SCI security clearance at the start is highly desired
  • Prior C2BMC experience
  • Experience with config/code migration, file merging, branding, and tool integration
  • Knowledge of MDA and the MDS is helpful

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
