Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This is for the Support & Training (S&T) Segment Systems Engineering Team of the Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program. This is a dynamic systems engineering role where you'll have opportunities to work the entirety of the systems engineering lifecycle.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Work on various systems engineering projects for Support Equipment items along the development process, including OPSCON definition, architecture, requirements development, interfaces, and/or verification planning/execution
  • Work with Design, Integrated Logistics Support, Specialty Engineering, and project management in development of Support Equipment for mission operational system on the Sentinel program to apply concepts and practices to Support Equipment
  • Generate OPSCON documentation to identify and understand the activities and support equipment required to maintain the prime mission equipment within the weapon system
  • Perform System Architecture modeling activities (Internal Block Diagram, Block Definition Diagram, maintain branch integrity, perform model merge integration) using Cameo software
  • Develop requirement specifications for various Support Equipment from the backlog of over 200+ items
  • Develop and mature interface products (Interface Requirements Specification, Interface Design Description, Interface Control Model)
  • Perform verification planning and execution for a successful program System Qualification and Verification Review (SQVR)/Functional Configuration Audit (FCA)
  • Build allocated baseline artifacts for System Readiness Reviews (SRRs), internal Design Reviews (iDRs), and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs)
  • This opening is in Roy, UT with up to 10% travel on occasion

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related experience; 3 years experience with a Master of Science degree; 1 year experience with a PhD
  • Experience with Systems Engineering Lifecycle, in any of the following systems engineering domains: requirements development, systems architecture, verification planning, and interface definition experience
  • 1 years’ experience in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Tools (Cameo, Magic Draw, Rhapsody or similar)
  • 1 years’ experience with Requirements management tools (DOORS, for example)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in System Engineering (SE) process, including SE experience across multiple levels of integration on DoD/aerospace program
  • Experience with the following tools: CAMEO, DOORS, Confluence, and JIRA
  • Experience developing/maintaining Peculiar (PSE) and Common (CSE) Support Equipment through all phases of project Life Cycle
  • Experience with Sentinel program
  • Strong experience leading technical teams in large scale aerospace/defense projects
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering projects on defense programs
  • Experience in development of Support Equipment for DoD/Aerospace program
  • Experience with ICBM Development/Operations & Support program
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SAP, and/or SCI access

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
