Position Purpose: The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers supporting mechanical design and analysis at BCT.  They will work with engineering and product leadership to ensure mechanical engineering needs are met for both existing product line support and new development initiatives.  This role will collaborate with BCT subject matter experts to make technically sound decisions for product design.  They will communicate decisions and give direction to their team in a clear manner that facilitates prioritization and enables team member success.  This role will support a team of engineers working in both Boulder and Lafayette facilities.

Pay Range: $125,000 - $235,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide both technical and managerial leadership to a team of mechanical, mechatronics, or other engineers responsible for the design of spacecraft, spacecraft components, ground support hardware, test hardware, and other related equipment 
  • Work with leaders of other technical disciplines to help solve multidisciplinary problems 
  • Continually assess team workloads and allocate bandwidth to programs and projects based on company priorities 
  • Personnel management responsibilities including goal setting, regular team member check-ins, timecard approvals, hiring efforts, etc.

  • Mentor junior engineers. Develop and execute growth plans for all team members

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience directly related to the products and functions for which the candidate’s team is responsible
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of engineers
     
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering 

  • Hands-on experience supporting and working in a production environment

  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education


Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.  BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
