Are you interested in defining possible? Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Electrical Engineer.
This position will primarily be located at the SIGINT Technology Center's (STC) in Chantilly supporting the Diadem program as well as various Internal Research and Development (IRAD) efforts. The STC is where technology and teamwork come together to meet the unique needs of the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. The STC is comprised of multiple mission-focused programs with projects ranging from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) SIGINT payload and data link development to OCONUS/CONUS mission/maintenance support. STC tasks include system design, engineering development, system integration, hands-on build and test, field operations and maintenance, training, and production.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support design, integration, test, and documentation for both new and existing hardware systems
- Work with interdisciplinary engineering teams (SE, EE, ME, SW) to support and lead internal research and development (IRAD) efforts
- Work with program management to ensure budgets, schedules, and key project milestones are being met
- Support operations and maintenance of fielded SIGINT systems
- Interface and collaborate with customers, end users, operators, and Field Service Representatives for: On-call pager support, On-call Subject Matter Expertise support, and On-call troubleshooting
- Develop and execute troubleshooting procedures for use in real time operations, OCONUS test sites, and System Integration Labs (SILs)
Basic Qualifications:
- 8 Years experience with a Bachelors degree in Science in Electrical Engineering degree; 6 Years experience with a Masters degree; 3 Years experience with PhD
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
- Strong interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques
- Knowledge of modern wireless communication systems
- Knowledge of RF system components & functions
- Experience in cable harness/assembly design and testing
- Experience with electrical test & measurement equipment
- Experience with circuit card assembly design and schematic design tools
- Experience working in team environments
- Experience working with program management
Preferred Qualifications:
- An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- A background in test, design, and integration
- Experience with Mentor Graphics design and simulation tools (i.e. Xpedition)
- Experience in circuit card assembly component selection, schematic capture, simulation, and board layout (multi-layer and high density)
- Experience with VPX / OpenVPX framework
- Experience with Linux operating systems including system concepts, architecture, and distributions with basic to advanced terminal commands
- Strong understanding of networking architecture, concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and technologies
- Security+ and Network+ certifications
- Experience in operations and maintenance of SIGINT/EW systems and workflows
- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with requirements management and associated tools (i.e. Doors, Cameo)
- Experience with full life cycle engineering for assembly and system level design processes (i.e. from requirements to a tangible solution)

Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
