- Undertaking preliminary breakdown of the EMC requirements relating to Electromagnetic Cleanliness Requirements and the Mission Requirement Document down to space segment, spacecraft, subsystem as well as platform and payload equipment level.
- Creating DC magnetic moment budgets (bottom-up) for all equipment (including instrument contributions), considering the distances to sensitive equipment, clearly showing the achieved levels at all sensor locations
- Creating a bottom-up AC electric and magnetic field contributors' analysis, considering at least the major contributors and the distance to sensitive equipment, clearly showing the achieved levels at all sensor locations.
- Assess and design accordingly the Solar Array w.r.t. its effects on the budgets, specifically addressing change of electric and magnetic properties in case of string, cell, diode failures, as well as temperature effects and contamination.
- Assess and design accordingly the impact of the booms containing highly magnetically sensitive scientific instruments, w.r.t. hold-down and release mechanisms, synchronization equipment, cabling and shielding etc.
