Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently seeking a Technical Engineer 6 (Chief Engineer) to join SP 2030 Strategic Facilities organization. This position will be supporting the Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located in Utah.

As the 2030 Facilities Technical Lead for the four Utah Propulsion Systems locations (Promontory, Clearfield, Magna, Copper Crossing), you will oversee all technical guidance of the 2030 facilities strategy.  This includes facility, tooling and equipment proposals, project estimating, strategy approvals, facility, equipment and tooling contracting and total management of 2030 plan execution. 

Additional duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead technical 2030 strategy subject matter expert for total facility expansion and modification.  Responsible for 2030 strategy campus facilities (both owned and leased), new manufacturing equipment and tooling. 

  • Lead facility equipment and tooling strategies, facility construction and modification relative to strategy expansion and modification efforts.  This will include projects related to additional plant capacity expansion, sustainability, digital transformation, etc.

  • Advanced level of understanding of facility construction and general understanding of diverse engineering disciplines

  • Advanced level of understanding of factory manufacturing equipment

  • Responsible as facility technical lead on all projects assigned to the group

  • Liaison contact with equivalent level managers and general contractor representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications

  • Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to engineering and contractor proposals and estimates

  • Develop and administer budgets and standards of performance

  • Conduct briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives

  • Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organizations objectives and schedules

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 14 years of related experience; OR a Master's degree and 12 years of related experience; OR 18 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree  

  • Previous experience managing significant facilities and tooling projects, campus facility expansions and capital investment management.

  • Leadership experience working in collaboration across multiple organizations, facility and tooling engineering and fabrication/construction support contracts, to include facility siting, external engineering contracts, construction, and/or customer relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in all areas of Facilities Construction/Maintenance operations

  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership

  • Ability to develop and present material outside the immediate work function

  • Proven positive impact on facility construction/modification efforts

  • Proven financial, schedule, subcontract management, technical performance, and execution experience

  • Experience supporting multiple different review teams

  • Familiar with a variety of aerospace and/or similar industry production equipment and manufacturing facilities infrastructure

  • Experience with CAD/3D design and/or ability to read and interpret blueprints

Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
