Northrop Grumman Marine Systems (NGMS) Business Unit is seeking a Manager of Operations Level 1 to join our team located in Sunnyvale, CA.
What You’ll get to Do:
The Manager of Marine Systems Operations Lead will support the Director of Engineering to manage all business operational aspects of the Engineering department. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Since this position requires the candidate to be on-site in Sunnyvale 100% of the time to execute the responsibilities highlighted below, it does not lend itself for remote work.
Position responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Integrate day-to-day operational objectives to meet the department financial, nonfinancial goals and assigned operating objectives.
- Manage department financial performance to meet annual goals on rates, OH investment and expenditures. Compile monthly data and analysis for engineering leadership review. Collaborate with Business Management team to develop and manage to annual operating plan.
- Lead staffing forecast and allocation effort in collaboration with engineering leaders, talent acquisition and HR. Compile and analyze forecast data for department staffing strategy development and decision making. Coordinate monthly updates to Sector manager.
- Organize and implement employee engagement activities such as department meetings, leadership council meetings, and Leader site visits.
- Coordinate with site facility team to manage office space and lead ongoing site renovation projects.
- Manage engineering processes and procedures. Represent engineering department with site procedure coordinators on configuration control and updates.
- Support the planning and execution of site audits.
- Manage department communication (newsletter, internal website) and event coordination (annual employee survey, celebratory events, engineering week activities).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of relevant work experience; or Master's Degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with no years of experience (Note: an additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
- Experience conducting presentations to upper/executive management.
- Experience effectively managing competing priorities and deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
- Proven analytical, technical, strategic and problem-solving experience.
- Knowledge of financial management and financial reporting tools/systems.
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master's Degree (or currently pursuing) Business, Science, Technology, Engineering or Math Degree.
- Control Account Manager (CAM) and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) experience.
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g. MS Project)
