The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. This position leads a team of design engineers executing the redesign of LRUs in an antenna sub system. Supports the design, development, and analysis of Ground System requirements. Implements Hardware (HW), and Radio Frequency (RF) systems in support of Ground Based Systems architecture and support communications infrastructure. Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Researches, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including RF equipment; communications equipment and systems. Analyzes engineering specifications and drawings; confers with quality, material, manufacturing and subcontractors to provide and obtain technical information; investigates reports of defective, damaged or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment or systems; and reviews production schedules and orders. Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Responsible for research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electromechanical systems. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. May conduct technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors, and company representatives.

Discretion/Latitude: Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.
Impact: Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.
Liaison: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Basic Qualifications:
- 12 Years with BS; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD, or 16 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
- The ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI level security clearance at time of application. U.S. Citizenship required.
- CCA Design experience
- demonstrated ability to manage highly technical teams of 10+ in meeting milestones on time and within budget
- Experience with RF antenna systems, test equipment, technical troubleshooting, and problem solving
- Experience with engineering drawings and technical manuals, and the use thereof for operating, maintenance and troubleshooting equipment
- Experience with production line best practice and efficiencies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Earned Value knowledge and Cost Account Management experience
- Proven ability to execute to Integrated Master Schedule milestones
- Ability to present and articulate technical matters to program leadership and executive staff
- Ability to function as a Technical Manager in a Vendor/Subcontract technical oversight role leading multiple subcontractors and maintaining deadlines CCA, Panels, Cables
- Familiarity with functional analysis, detailed studies, interface definition to translate system requirements into subsystem specifications
- Familiarity with integration, installation, test, and documentation of new and/or modified capabilities into complex systems.
- Ability to travel between 10 and 25% of the year
- Ability to work independently with multi-disciplined teams within the program
Salary Range: $188,200.00 - $282,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
