Propulsion Intern - Aerospace Engineering

Location: Houston, TX

Duration: Summer 2025 June 2nd - August 8th

Internship Overview:

Intuitive Machines is seeking a dynamic and ambitious individual to join our team as a Propulsion Intern. This internship is designed for students pursuing degrees in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. As a Propulsion Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience in the design, testing, and optimization of propulsion systems. This is a paid, full time internship from June 2nd, to August 8th at our headquarters in Houston Texas. Under the supervision of experienced team members you could potentially expect the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design and analysis of propulsion systems, including engines and thrusters, for various aerospace applications.
  • Assist in the setup and execution of propulsion system tests, collecting and analyzing data to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Use software tools to simulate and model propulsion system behavior, aiding in the optimization and refinement of design concepts.
  • Work closely with experienced engineers and researchers to contribute to ongoing propulsion projects, providing valuable insights and support.
  • Maintain detailed records of design iterations, test results, and analysis findings, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during testing and research activities to maintain a secure working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. 
  • Strong interest in propulsion systems and aerospace technology.
  • Familiarity with propulsion system design principles and fundamentals, heat transfer,
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools for simulation and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
