We are seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead and integrate the International Programs division. This position will report to the senior Vice President of the Civil Systems Group (SVP, CSG). CSG offers deep technical expertise and cutting-edge innovation to support the United States government and Allies to solve complex systems engineering and integration challenges within high-consequence environments. In this exciting position, the successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of US and international security space and Aerospace’s role in it. The Assistant General Manager will also possess a proven ability to run a Profit and Loss center with a highly diverse customer set, while making sure resource allocation decisions maximize a return on investment. Work Model
This is a full-time position based in Crystal City, VA, offering a hybrid work model that combines 4 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop the International Programs division objectives and strategy consistent with the corporate goals, Civil Systems Group strategic plan, and customer expectations.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the lines of business to deliver performance and implement strategy. Track, understand, and advocate for the capabilities within International Program Division.
- Interface with Aerospace executive management to ensure strategies, investments and actions are aligned with corporate objectives.
- Anticipate the customer’s future needs, set the vision, and create an agile work force that can respond.
- Drive and facilitate cross-agency customer coordination as well as across the Aerospace enterprise for collaboration on national security and international space.
- Build and manage the operating plans, budgets, staffing, succession planning, workforce needs, personnel development, customer interface, and division growth.
- Position Aerospace in the highest value functions across the International customer portfolio, match customer operating plans and priorities with Aerospace capabilities and offerings.
- Actively participate in customer senior decision forums across the portfolio.
- Ensure staff is positioned to leverage the full extent of the Aerospace enterprise capabilities in solving the customer’s hardest problems across the portfolio.
- Define the organization structure, guide staffing, develop and grow the management team.
- Provide leadership for setting goals and direction, mentoring, providing critical feedback, and coaching aimed at developing an agile technical staff and staff development.
What You Need to be Successful - Assistant General Manager- International Programs & Enterprise Architect Engineering
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or an appropriate technical discipline
- 15 or more years of relevant experience with program management of highly complex and technical domestic and international space and/or space-related activities.
- Experience that spans a broad set of international customers and private sector organizations.
- Experience in a managerial role with proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, contractors, customers, partners, and corporate staff.
- Ability to deliver strategic plans aligned with corporate and customer priorities and positioning the international portfolio for sustainable performance and growth, demonstrating agility in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth management experience with budgets, staff development, planning, and customer account development and management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead integrated multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to build and/or maintain substantive rapport with a diverse range of senior government customers and corporate executives.
- Excellent verbal communication skills - clear, concise, persuasive; builds consensus through speaking; polished, professional style.
- Excellent written communication skills - organize complex materials and concepts in clear and logical manner.
- Demonstrated organizational agility, cross-program collaboration / sharing.
- Ability to work across Aerospace organization and influence outcomes.
- Must have strong business and financial acumen with constructive and proactive method to problem solving. Ability to make time-critical mission success decisions with ambiguous or incomplete data.
- Some travel required.
- This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Technical master’s degree, international-related masters degree, masters of business administration
- Substantial experience in multiple engineering areas, as well as international business experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification.
