Job description

Duties

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture for artificial intelligence, ensuring it aligns with NASA's overall IT strategy and supports specific mission goals related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications and data analytics.
  • Collaborate with mission and mission support stakeholders across NASA to identify opportunities for leveraging AI technologies in ongoing and future projects, enhancing decision-making, operational efficiency, and research capabilities.
  • Assess and inform the deployment and integration of AI systems with existing enterprise IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability between AI solutions and other technology systems.
  • Lead the development and execution of the NASA AI capabilities roadmap, identifying key initiatives, setting timelines, and recommending investment priorities to drive the adoption and effective utilization of AI.
  • Conduct continuous assessments of new AI technologies and industry trends, determining their potential impact on NASA's strategic objectives and recommending appropriate adoption strategies.
  • Monitor/evaluate the performance of AI implementations to refine/optimize the AI enterprise architecture, inform the Agency's IT strategy, and report on AI initiatives to senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Work with Chief AI Officer, Enterprise Architects, Agency Level Offices and Service Lines, Mission and Mission support teams to ensure AI strategies/processes are consistent with the organization's goals and contribute to NASA’s missions.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
  • Designing and implementing enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) architectures that integrate with broader IT systems, demonstrating a strong ability to align AI initiatives with organizational missions and strategic goals;
  • Developing policies and frameworks that ensure ethical use, data privacy, and compliance with regulatory standards while fostering an environment of innovation within AI practice;
  • Evaluating emerging AI technologies and trends, effectively assessing their applicability and potential impact on operations and strategy, and informing cross-functional teams to deploy AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency, decision-making, and innovation.

IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
