Senior Technical Product Manager


GHGSat is a global leader in emissions intelligence, pioneering the use of satellite imagery to monitor and measure greenhouse gas emissions since 2016. By partnering with industry leaders, GHGSat leverages proprietary satellite data, coupled with aircraft imagery and public data to provide unprecedented insights into the global emissions landscape.   


AsGHGSatcontinues its journey to build the world's leading geospatial atmospheric data platform, we are seekinga Senior Technical Product Managerfor our GHGsat solution. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that our products meet customer needs while aligning with our strategic goals. This is a technical role requiring strong technical background with ownership of internal products at system level (features, data platform etc).  


You will report to the product director and work in close collaboration with product managers (focused on external products), product marketers and software development teams. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of the requirement definition activities and experience in leading software development teams and working with data flows in a cloud environment. Defining high-level requirements, you will support teams of developers and testers, though system design, planning, implementation, verification, validation and risk management. 


This position is part of a newly formed team dedicated to developing the product discipline that will drive GHGsat into its next successful phase. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, and business skills, project and product management skills.


This role is open to candidates located in Canada, though our preference is for candidates to be located near our Canadian office locations in order to adhere to our hybrid 2-day in-office work mode (see our locations: https://www.ghgsat.com/en/contact/ )

 

What you will do:


Technical Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technical product roadmap supporting the company’s strategic goals and product portfolio.
  • Conduct R&D projects and build opportunities for our internal technical products.
  • Define the technical product vision and maintain alignment with stakeholders across the organization including our market segment product strategy.


Technical Expertise & Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering teams to define and build technical product and solutions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between product managers focused on external products and technical teams (Internal).
  • Provide insights into technical feasibility and guide the prioritization of features at technical level.
  • Collaborate with product management and technical teams to ensure product success.
  • Advocate for user experience and ensure customer-centric technical product development.


Product Development Lifecycle

  • Manage the end-to-end technical product development lifecycle, including ideation, design, development, testing, and launch.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success.
  • Ensure timely delivery of product releases while managing risks and dependencies.


Documentation & Communication

  • Create and maintain product documentation, including requirement documents, product specifications and release notes.
  • Present technical product updates and roadmaps to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Manage & maintain a robust and efficient System Process for the company
  • Develop high-level system requirements and support decomposition into component and software specifications.
  • From a system standpoint, guide the teams responsible for the development and testing of internal products
  • Provide leadership on the product architecture definition, with a focus on data ingestion & transformation
  • Support the various product design workshops from which will be derived the system definition
  • Collaborate with a team of highly qualified technical experts
  • Coaches team members as required to develop their skills and improve their productivity
  • Support customer meetings to better understand their demands/requirements


You should have:

  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with a data driven architecture and cloud-based data management applications 
  • Experience with interfacing with several software development teams on various internal products
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • A collaborative nature and team-player attitude
  • Independence and drive, and be able to operate under tight deadlines
  • Flexibility, adaptability, autonomy, and multi-tasking ability 


Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in relevant roles including
  • Strong experience in functional modelization and with engineering requirements management tool
  • Test-Driven Development mindset involving CI, CD, documentation, iterative deliveries
  • **Must be able to obtain Canadian government security clearance**
