Within the CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division and Civil Space Operation’s Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight and program office activities. We are looking for a Configuration Management Specialist III/IV. As a Configuration Management Specialist III/IV, you will support NASA’s Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP) Program Planning & Control (PP&C) Office by providing (CDM) planning and control services across the Program.
This is a full-time position located at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This role is hybrid requiring 3-4 days regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide technical expertise in the planning, coordination, execution, and audit/verification of CDM processes supporting management of the EHP Baseline.
- Develop, design, implement and facilitate configuration management policies and best practices across the EHP.
- Perform change management and control through the document lifecycle. Working with the Change Package Engineer (CPE) and stakeholders, integrate comments, prepare change packages for approval, and ensure implementation and verification of EHP directives. This involves working multiple documents in parallel.
- Support NASA review of vendor deliverables in coordination with project insight team.
- Provide CDM support for EHP Control Boards and Panels to guide in the execution of CDM, ensure accurate recording of decisions, and present CM status reports regularly.
- Provide CDM support for EHP Milestone reviews as necessary.
- Support cross-program stakeholder integration and participate in cross-program CDM coordination.
- Provide education and training to internal and externals stakeholders on the use of EHP CDM tools and processes.
- Perform technical Document Quality Assurance (DQA) to ensure product consistency and adherence to EHP policies.
- Ensure all CDM data and records are accurate, complete, and timely archived via the EHP systems.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Configuration Management Specialist III/IV
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in a related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in Configuration and Data Management or related field
- Knowledge of CDM standards and principles
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Experienced in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and virtual environments
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA Organizations, Projects, and Programs
- This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Configuration Management Specialist IV include:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in a related discipline
- At least 8 years of experience in Configuration and Data Management or related field.
- Familiarity with product markings for proprietary data, export control, procurement, etc.
- Ability to identify and communicate concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner

- Advanced degree from an accredited program
- More than 10 years of experience in Configuration and Data Management or related field
- Configuration Management certification
- Recent CDM experience with NASA programs
- Independent and self-motivated; proactive ability to learn on the job and utilize resources to carry out assignments
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and virtual environments
