Description:We are searching for a Software Engineer to join our exceptional team building the next generation of advanced space science instruments for astrophysics, heliophysics, and earth sciences. In this role, you will support the Space Science and Instruments (SS&I) department of the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) and can participate in the full spectrum of system engineering from instrument conception, design, development, integration, assembly, and test to launch and mission operation. You will be working with the Scientific Computation team to develop flight software, test software, flight and test requirements, test procedures, and conduct subsystems and system tests through development and final integration of our science payloads. You will have the opportunity to participate in stretch assignments in assessing new technologies to derive solutions for new technologies insertions in advancing our science objective while maintaining our competitive edge.
You will have the opportunity to be a part of a high-performing team with responsibilities that include:
• Design, develop and exercise the flight software and test software to assure software products work as intended and meet customer requirements
• Participate in software and hardware test and integration as the instrument is being built and assembled.
• Work with instrument team to conduct instrument mission operation test use cases across product development life cycle
• Design, develop and exercise software test tools to capture instrument data for analysis supporting instrument development and test.
This position is located at a facility that requires special access. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Basic Qualifications:
• Software Test Development skills
• Development experience in C/C++, and Python
• Knowledge of HW-SW integration
• Understand spacecraft telemetry and command concept
• Demonstrated growth mindset from concept to execution and realization of software product
• U.S. Citizenship
Desired Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in a software, engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
• VxWorks RTOS, Windows and Linux OS background
• Prior experience with EGSE and/or hardware-in-the-loop simulators is a plus
• Strong self-discipline with code development, testing and configuration control
• Self-motivated with strong teamwork and organizational skills
• Experience engaging with customers and stakeholders

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $70,500 - $135,000. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
