Job description
Omitron is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join the SOLACE program in Colorado Springs, CO. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute testing strategies for complex systems, ensuring the performance, reliability, and functionality of mission-critical components. Your expertise in astronomy or aerospace will be critical for understanding and testing systems used in space exploration, orbital analysis, or related applications. This position will require candidates to be in our offices HYBRID-to-FULL TIME as necessary for project success. This position is contingent upon receipt of additional contract funding, which is anticipated by the end of 2024.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $140,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement test plans, test cases, and test scripts for aerospace or astronomy-related systems.
- Conduct system-level testing, including functional, integration, and performance testing.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to integrate astrodynamics solutions into larger system architectures.
- Develop automated test frameworks and tools to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Perform data analysis and debugging to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Validate system performance under simulated or actual environmental conditions, such as vacuum, thermal, or vibration tests.
- Document test procedures, results, and recommendations for improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in aerospace, astronomy, and testing methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- US Citizenship required
- Security Clearance Required: None, but candidates must be willing to be submitted for a US Government security clearance
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Astronomy, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years relevant experience in testing strategies (Junior-Level)
- Experience: 4+ years relevant experience in testing strategies (Mid-Level)
- Proven experience as a Test Engineer in aerospace, astronomy, or a related industry.
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics, space systems, or astronomical instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience reading and writing in any of the following software languages at a basic proficiency (C, C++, Java, Fortran)
Desired Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: 5+ years relevant experience in testing strategies
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience doing numerical analysis
- Strong communication skills to translate technical findings into actionable insights.
