The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace’s strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.

If so, consider this exciting position in the Space Enterprise Design and Optimization Department (SEDOD) supporting the National Reconnaissance Office’s Commercial Systems Program Office (CSPO). In SEDOD, we leverage trade space exploration, optimization, and analysis techniques to solve the nation’s hardest problems across the space enterprise, including orbit design, portfolio selection, payload concept design, communications architecting, resiliency analysis, and commercial capability integration. We are looking for a Space Enterprise Commercial Modeling and Simulation Lead to lead modeling and simulation efforts across EED and beyond to proactively assist the government with the acquisition and integration of commercial services into the NRO enterprise architecture. Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, VA, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You’ll Be Doing

Serve as the integration leader and coordinator for architecture modeling & simulation of commercial systems

Identify opportunities, prioritize tasks, facilitate communication and act as the spokesperson to the customer for modeling support acquisitions that optimize the application and utility of commercial space systems inside the NRO’s and IC’s architecture

Organize interfaces between customers' and Aerospace technical and management staff

Develop and managing customer support plans to maximize mission satisfaction

Collaborate across the NRO and the Intelligence community to influence current and future investments in commercial technology and capabilities

Lead technical staff and matrixed technical resources to address a broad range of technical topics

Interact with non-traditional space sector commercial companies and explore cutting edge technology that may be useful to the IC and the Department of Defense

Serve as a senior mentor to new and junior staff, guiding routine analysis and development tasks as part of larger project efforts, and promoting a collaborative environment for professional growth

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Project Leader – Modeling & Simulation Engineering:

B.S. degree in aerospace, astronautical, or mechanical engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering

Six or more years of relevant and progressive professional or academic experience

Significant history of consistent contribution to multiple substantial technical analytical or development projects through their successful fruition

History of leading technical teams with diverse backgrounds delivering substantial technical analyses or development efforts in support of customer-driven projects

Experience with modeling and simulation tools in support of architecture assessment, sensor performance, analysis of alternatives, or space-based vendor acquisitions

Technical understanding of space-based architectures

Strong organization and communication skills

Willing to support occasional travel domestically (typically 1 week every few months or less)

This position requires a current and active security clearance and polygraph (TS/SBI/SCI), which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Project Leader – Modeling & Simulation Engineering include:

Ten or more years of relevant and progressive professional or academic experience

Specific experience with modeling space-based commercial radar, Electro-Optical, or commercial hyperspectral capabilities

Technical experience either working for or with commercial space companies

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

A graduate degree in aerospace, astronautical, or mechanical engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering

Extensive knowledge of Intelligence Community or U.S. Department of Defense business practices, acquisition policies, or space mission portfolios

Experience producing analyses and communicating results to various sized audiences

Experience with multiple government streamlined space-based vendor acquisitions

Prior experience as the lead for matrixed teams with diverse skill sets to solve multi-disciplinary challenges
