Job Overview & Responsibilities
As a Vulcan Avionics Component Lead you will be leading the inception, design, and qualification of future hardware designs for Vulcan development programs that include Reuse, Upperstage Advancements (USA), RF and Telemetry Components, and advanced programs. Responsibilities may include:
- Management of a team to execute development of Encryption components, new RF and telemetry hardware, and instrumentation systems.
- Executing trade studies for new components and architectures of encryption (AES256 & Type 1), communication, RF and telemetry, and instrumentation components.
- Drive definition of new hardware component requirements.
- Manage contracts with supply chain leading SOW (Statement of Work) creation, engineering estimates, and negotiations.
- Integrating Avionics components onto the launch vehicle.
- Project and Program management of vendors including schedule creation, design, and driving execution.
- Ownership of the ULA internal integrated master schedule and execution.
- Mentor and guide engineers through development process of inception, requirements definition, gate reviews, and qualification.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Engineering or other related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated technical leadership of multifunctional teams.
- Experience driving team execution and teamwork.
- Strong experience with Global RF System: Transmitters, Receivers, Antennas, Couplers/Dividers, Amplifiers, Cables, etc.
- Knowledge of AES256 and Type1 Encryption architecture and components.
- Demonstrated experience in taking a program from conception through qualification, including building schedules, vendor down-selection, vendor contracts, design, gate reviews, and qualification.
- Experience reviewing, editing and providing feedback on complex engineering drawings, parts lists, PMP Derating, WCA, thermal analysis, test procedures, SOWs, engineering estimates, and schematics.
- Experience with designing circuits schematics, printed wiring board layouts, and circuit card production.
- Strong experience with independent troubleshooting and problem-solving of complex issues.
- Able to effectively work and integrate with ground systems and software teams.
- Experience out briefing customers, vendors, and chief engineers with complicated problems and solutions.
- Available to work vendor-related issues outside of business hours and available to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 2 years of experience leading and mentoring a team.
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $130,775.00 - $204,383.00
Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
