The EarthDaily Constellation will combine with the EarthPipeline data processing system to provide unprecedented, scientific-grade data of the world every day, positioning EDA to meet the growing needs of diverse industries.

Do you want to join the Accounting team of one of the most exciting space companies at the forefront of global change detection/change monitoring? We are looking for an adaptable Accounting Technician with A/P and A/R experience in a multi currency environment. This is a Vancouver-based hybrid position, with some in-office work required. Candidates must have full-time availability during the business hours of 9am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. 

PREPARE FOR IMPACT!

Reporting to the Controller and working closely with other members of the Accounting team the Accounting Technician is a hands-on role responsible for the management and processing of full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable while meeting various monthly deadlines. The ideal candidate has experience working with an ERP (NetSuite is a plus) and doing full-cycle accounts payable and receivable in multiple currencies. Excellent multitasking and interpersonal skills and being able to work independently in a fast-paced environment are a must. Responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable

  • Act as primary point of contact for vendors – onboard new vendors, reply to vendor inquiries, follow up on invoices etc.
  • Create purchase orders and set up new vendors in QBO
  • Complete accurate and timely processing of full cycle vendor bills, bill credits, and credit card transactions in ERP system (NetSuite) knowledge of Tipalti/HubSpot/QBO would be an asset
  • Obtain bill approvals and match to purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company purchasing policy
  • Prepare vendor payments listing, get approval and set up payments in bank, process weekly ACH and wire payments using US Bank
Accounts Receivable
  • Prepare and send invoices to customers
  • Work with sales team to follow up on and collect payments
  • Provide account/contract statuses (communicate payment status with Controller)
  • Send revenue invoices to respective deal manager for review; track invoices over multiple years; log and track renewable invoices; generate invoices for MSAs
Expense Reports
  • Process & review employee expense reports for completeness (coding, supporting receipts etc.) and ensure timely reimbursement by coordinating with Payroll
  • Enter approved expense reports into the respective ERP/accounting system (NetSuite/QBO)
  • Prepare monthly expense reports for executive team members

Other Accounting Responsibilities

  • Create journal entries to record bank transactions, payroll, and other ad hoc entries
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and financial reporting. Record payments from vendors and cash receipts from customers, complete reconciliation reports in Tipalti/NetSuite/Quickbooks
  • Prepare monthly depreciation, amortization, loan interest, PTO tracking working papers
  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures to improve accounts payable and receivable function
  • Works closely with Senior Accountants and Controller to ensure smooth management of operations and month-end close
  • Prepare account summaries and other supporting records for annual audit as required

YOUR PAST MISSIONS

  • Completion of an accounting diploma, or currently enrolled in a professional accounting program
  • Minimum 2+ years full-cycle accounts payable/receivable experience
  • Experience with ERPs (NetSuite experience an asset)
  • Experience with QBO required
  • Experience with Tipalti would be an asset
  • Experience with payment processing (US Bank/BMO preferred)
  • Experience in dealing with multiple currencies

YOUR TOOLKIT

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proven understanding of accounting principles and internal controls
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to change course when urgent matters arise
  • Strong customer service and business acumen with a friendly demeanor
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, with strong ability to multitask and manage calendars
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision

YOUR COMPENSATION

Base Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 annually

The range of $60,000-$70,000 annually, depends on job-related skills, experience, training, education, location and business needs. The range is based on BC-derived compensation for this role. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Only in rare and exceptional circumstances, when a candidate has the experience, skills, and expertise to exceed those required for the position, would we consider paying at the top of the range for this role.
