We’re on the hunt for a Intermediate Mechanical Technologist (evening) on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.

Role:

This is an intermediate level position in the Mechanical Production group. Provide a technical interface between Manufacturing and Engineering departments. Suggest materials and processes that could be used in the assembly of equipment. Establish procedures related to production and support the Manufacturing department during the assembly phase. This position requires substantial supervision from superior level positions.

 

Tasks:

  • Participates in the design phase with the engineering group by suggesting possible assembly materials or procedures.
  • Defines assembly methods for mechanical components and assemblies of simple to intermediate complexity. Prepares routing slips for parts under his control.
  • Designs production templates associated with slips and performs a follow-up of their manufacturing.
  • Helps assembly operators by performing detailed reviews during production.
  • Suggests rework procedures to Quality Assurance personnel when an item does not meet prescribed standards.
  • Helps superior level technologists in their work by participating to the development of new processes or tools, by reviewing and commenting technical drawings of manufacturing tooling and writing reports.
  • Ensures that work is performed in accordance with internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety rules.
  • Makes recommendations in order to improve the efficiency of the production workshop.
  • Performs other discipline related duties

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Diploma of College studies in Mechanical Technology or the equivalent
  • Good knowledge of production techniques and mechanical assembly processes
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly tools
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft software and one ERP production database
  • Fluent in both oral and written French. Knowledge of English is an asset

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
