We’re on the hunt for a Mechanical Technician on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.

Role:
This is a fully skilled level of work. Under the direction of more experienced technicians or technical staff/engineers, performs a variety of tasks related to established methods and processes. Work from written instructions or general guidelines on equipment and systems of medium to complex complexity. Advise, guide and train less experienced employees.
Tasks:
- Assemble or modify test models and experimental set-ups from instructions issued by senior technical staff.
- Check technical drawings and may suggest improvements.
- Build special fixtures under the direction of senior technicians or technical staff.
- Research, recommend and obtain parts or components for tests and test fixtures.
- Record test or experiment results and prepare reports.
- Perform supervised tasks including installation, repair, testing and maintenance of equipment, subsystems and systems.
- Participate, as required, in the development of various test plans and procedures.
- Advise, guide and train less experienced employees.
- Participate in the preparation of time and cost estimates while improving department productivity.
- Participate in the programming and start-up of automated equipment sequences using software provided.
- Perform work in accordance with internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety rules.
- Perform other related tasks.
Additional Qualifications: Must be able to perform the duties of level 9A as well as the duties below, as assigned. Knowledge and experience as assigned.
Mechanical Technician :
- Perform tasks related to MGSE support.
Machinist :
- Evaluate the time required to produce a part (Programming and Machining).
- Demonstrate versatility by being able to operate several types of machines.
- Program machining sequences using available software.
Alignment :
- Use high-precision equipment to align or adjust flight or tooling sub-assemblies or assemblies according to theoretical values or guidelines submitted by Engineering.
- Test, troubleshoot and align aircraft, subsystems and systems.
- Calibrate and/or characterize various tooling and/or flight components as required.
Minimum qualifications required:
- Possesses relevant knowledge and experience as assigned.
- Education: DEC or equivalent in mechanical, aeronautical or related engineering as assigned.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Language skills: At ease in spoken and written French. Knowledge of English is an asset.
Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
