Maxar is currently seeking a Senior Director of Product Management to join our team in Westminster, CO, Washington D.C., or Herndon, VA. In this role, you will lead the creation of new products and features, from the idea stage, through launch, to end of life for Maxar’s portfolio of Insights products and lead Product Partnerships for the Insights Portfolio.

The ideal candidate 

The position involves close interaction with market trends, competitive landscape, key customers, sales, marketing, product strategy, product partnerships, development, and operations. Job duties include gathering market requirements across diverse customer sets, identifying key product partnerships, developing product business cases and plans, developing product requirements for product development teams, collaborating with engineering teams to build and ship new products, and driving opportunities to enable real value creation inside our customer’s organizations.  
 
The ideal candidate will have background and experience working directly with customers to apply machine learning and other AI-focused technologies to solve business problems and understand how to increase value. In this role, you must be flexible and able to work across product teams and independently with potential partnersboth in teams, and independently. You must be an organized, self-starter comfortable engaging both business and technology decision makers within Maxar, within partner organizations, and with potential customers. You must possess strong analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills in order to communicate vision, strategy and tactics across multiple stakeholders. As an internal and external evangelist for the Maxar Insights product offerings, you will require strong communication and collaboration skills and the internal drive to make the product vision a reality. 

 

Last, you are willing to dream big and imagine new solutions to problems leveraging the latest advances in AI/ML research but grounded in making sure these solutions can be delivered as product that can truly drive ROI and have a solid value proposition in market. 

 

What you will do day-to-day 

  • Lead sales, technical product management, and engineering team members to develop top-quality products by serving as the bridge between customers/sales and engineering. 

  • Conduct research to identify customer needs and market gaps influencing our business and our customers – and excel at data driven decision making 

  • Analyze the competition, market trends, and execute on strategies to be the market leader in geospatial and predictive analytics 

  • Analyze the partnership landscape, develop a thesis on key areas MAXAR should partner, where we should compete, and how and who to cultivate a partnership ecosystem 

  • Define, drive, and communicate product roadmaps aligned with the corporate strategy, as well as new and existing capabilities 

  • Define Product Partnership Strategies and analyze the marketplace for potential partners in the partnership ecosystem 

  • Define Partnership Revenue models that align with MAXAR leadership growth and profitability goals while creating equitable opportunity for our Product Partners. 

  • Partner closely with engineering to prioritize work to be done based on market demands and maximizing benefit to the business 

  • Provide product requirements that can be used in an Agile framework with Maxar engineering and operations teams in the creation of new product capabilities based on market needs and your customer expertise 

  • Lead the development of value propositions and sales tools to be used by the sales team 

  • Work closely with marketing and brand on external messaging and naming for product 

  • Lead cross-functional rollout and go-to-market of products and new feature sets 

  • Train all customer-facing employees on product details, value proposition, and sales techniques 

  • Serve as the technical expert on your product while working directly with customers (jointly with sales) both to assist sales in closing deals and to ensure a positive customer experience 

  • Serve as the external and internal evangelist for your products 

  • Work with sales and finance to accurately build business cases to forecast and monitor the success of products, and use these measures to drive product strategy 

  • Set and regularly evaluate product pricing 

  • Represent your product through any Maxar-wide prioritization processes 

  • Ensure legal requirements are met, and any risks are mitigated through collaboration with legal 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, an Earth Science, Engineering, or Information Technology, or relevant field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree 

  • Minimum of 15 years related work experience 

  • Minimum of 7 years product management experience 

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% 

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance or ability to obtain one 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working directly with customers to apply machine learning and other technologies to solve business problems and increase value 

  • MBA or advanced degree 

  • Product team leadership experience working in a complex environment 

  • Extensive experience in Partnerships in the Federal ecosystem 

  • Excellent communication skills along with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams 

  • Excellent cross-functional skills across customers, sales, marketing, operations, development and suppliers 

  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of organization and attention-to-detail 

  • Active TS/SCI

We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. To accommodate all locations, we have listed the bottom to the top of the possible range, and will share the target range for a specific location during the recruiting discussion. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidates unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$135,000.00 - $287,000.00 annually.

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
