Job Overview & Responsibilities
ULA is looking for Material and Process Engineer to join the Parts, Materials and Processes (PMP) team at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Assignments to include the following:
- Support launch-related verification testing:
- Conduct testing and evaluate results for mission critical test specimens.
- Coordinate specimens, test plans and operational media sampling with site-supporting laboratories, review results for completeness, and interpret results as required.
- Write laboratory test reports and report test results to internal customers.
- Evaluate Cape Laboratory equipment capabilities and make recommendations for expanding capabilities to provide cost and time savings.
- Conduct perishable materials shelf life extension testing for select materials.
- Conduct part and material failure analysis investigations as required.
- Provide direction and propose innovative solutions for testing, launch site chem processing lines and precision cleaning processes.
- Participate with review of discrepant parts and materials, work to identify root cause, and develop and implement preventative/corrective actions across all sites.

Required Years of Experience
Minimum of 6 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with chemical testing and verification of material and hardware.
- Exposure to laboratory equipment and report generation.
- Working knowledge of Military and Commercial materials and process specifications.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance is required to start. US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with determination and characterization of samples with unknown composition.
- Demonstrated experience with precision clean sample analysis including conducting particle counts and NVR analysis.
- Practical experience with laboratory equipment: SEM-EDX, FTIR, ATR, light microscopy.
- Experience with writing and presenting laboratory reports, writing and maintaining laboratory procedures.
- Familiar with chem processing and precision cleaning processes.
- Demonstrated experience in the resolution of complex material and process anomalies.
- Experience working independently and in a team environment.
