DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain electrical wiring diagrams and harness architecture to meet system requirements (e.g. functionality, electrical loading, EMC/EMI, and routing constraints)
  • Design, drafting, and review of electrical wiring 3D models, assembly drawings, and installation drawings for spacecraft electrical and avionics systems, including power distribution, RF, and data busses
  • Selection of electrical wiring assembly, installation, and fabrication components such as connectors, back shells, wire, insulation, and contact insertion tooling
  • Leads, develops, and maintains cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs
  • Support milestone reviews such as PDR, CDR, and SDR
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in wire harness design or a combined equivalent of education and experience
  • Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 or NASA-STD-8739.4 for design and fabrication standards
  • Understanding and application of EMI/RFI, signal shielding, and bonding principles
  • Understanding of wire derating criteria and capability to calculate wire sizing requirements
  • Preferred experience with SolidWorks Electrical, for designing systems level wire diagrams

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
