Job Overview & Responsibilities
- This Propulsion Analysis technical subject matter expert (SME) position will partner with the Propulsion Analysis Leader to establish, develop, and maintain analysis tools, processes, and best practices.
- The SME provides propulsion fluids and thermodynamic analysis, guidance, and subject matter expertise across all Vulcan Development programs.
- This propulsion analysis SME will provide oversight and problem-solving recommendations for the Propulsion Analysis team to solve complex fluid and thermodynamic problems through the lifecycle of the Vulcan launch vehicle including new development analysis, product technical support, and anomaly resolution for propulsion fluids systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics, and pneumatics).
- This position will provide technical mentoring to a team of propulsion analysis engineers.
- Implements analysis process improvements that reduce cost, and risk and/or improve vehicle performance.
- The SME will interface with other groups, such as Chief Engineering Office, Thermal Analysis, Propulsion Design, Flight Software, and Ground Systems.
- This position requires the ability to path-find solutions to new issues and work through technical ambiguity.

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- The position requires fluid analysis expertise as well as understanding of launch vehicle propulsion applications.
- Experience with launch vehicle and/or space vehicle fluids and thermodynamics analysis.
- In-depth understanding of fluids analysis capabilities and propulsion design practices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office platforms.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and mentoring skills.
- Experience with engineering programming languages (Fortran, Matlab, Python, VBA, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with all phases of launch vehicle ground and flight propulsion operations.
- This department is hiring for two positions and vary based on area of expertise and years of experience. See below:

Position One:
- Significant prior experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver(s) (Flow3D or similar).
- In-depth knowledge of propellant management (slosh) analysis of space vehicles and/or launch vehicles.
- Position Two:
- Familiarity with boost phase environments.
- Knowledge of cryogenic first stage launch vehicle propulsion systems.
- Experience with engineering software development and multi-physics thermo-fluid simulations.
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $153,503.00 - $239,794.00
Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
