Job Overview & Responsibilities
United Launch Alliance is hiring! We are seeking a creative and strategic digital communication specialist to join our Government Operations and Communications team.
ULA’s Communications team supports internal and external communications, including launch communications, media, social media, advertising, website, intranet, employee meetings and various internal and external events. This individual will be based in our Cape Canaveral and work closely with team members in DC, Colorado and Florida as well as executives and site leadership throughout the company.
The Communications Specialist position supports digital communications, content creation and monitoring across channels including external websites and social media. This teammate also will support ULA’s overall thought leadership and executive positioning strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage ULA’s social media editorial calendar, including coordinating and organizing content, researching background information and securing appropriate media/multimedia content
- Post to ULA’s social media channels and develop/secure approval for responses
- Plan and execute strategic communications plans targeting key stakeholders, including media, digital influencers, thought leaders, influencers, suppliers and the public
- Monitor news and social media, providing quick “heads up” updates to the team and appropriate leadership as well as compiling social and traditional media monitoring reports and metrics
- Support ULA’s overall media and thought leadership strategy
Required Education
Bachelor
Required Years of Experience
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations marketing or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Experience with digital marketing metrics/reporting.
- Fluency with writing and editing AP Style.
- Shooting photos and/or video.
- Availability to work occasional nights and weekends as launch schedule and events dictate.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with a team in different time zones located across the country.
- Ability to create messaging based on feedback from stakeholders.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Travel expected up to 10% of the time to support launch and events.
Additional Qualifications for a Level 3:
- Minimum of 4 years related experience.
- Experience translating complex and technical messages across multiple channels, including press releases, web/Intranet, social media and talking points.
- Fluency in website management.
- Familiarity with media relations.
- Experience with Meltwater, Sprout Social or similar social media management and analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with digital influencers.
- Experience in aerospace and/or government relations.
- Experience working on or with Capitol Hill or the Administration.
- Basic proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud products.
