Job description
Join the Redwire team in developing and fielding end-to-end innovative mission critical space system solutions for next generation space architecture. At Redwire, you will work closely with customers from concept development through mission operations to ensure mission success.
Do you want to launch your career in space? Join us! Whether it's working with satellites, developing docking systems, or building science instruments, you will have the opportunity to do meaningful work in challenging space projects. At Redwire, you'll find a welcoming and diverse team where you can learn and grow while having great life-work balance.
Function
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Control Systems Engineer to support our growing business in Docking and Berthing systems (IBDM) for human spaceflight. In this role, you will support the engineering development of the docking systems, with particular focus on kinematics simulation and the control software, over the complete project lifecycle including testing.
Responsibilities
- You manage the higher level technical requirements (w.r.t. control and operation) and interact about them with all internal & external stakeholders
- You translate the higher level technical requirements into design, development and test requirements for the control software.
- You perform first order system/subsystem level assessments/analysis.
- You assist in the technical budget management.
- You model, simulate & optimize the IBDM kinematics by applying Multi body dynamics.
- You support technical decision making.
- You have deep knowledge of Matlab/Simulink. You deploy the resulting C code onto the hardware.
- You plan and execute system/subsystem level functional and performance test campaigns.
- You write related technical procedures/reports and support overall coherence of the project technical documentation.
- You keep a helicopter view to steer the design and development process and interact with all technical disciplines (mechanical, thermal, electronic, software, control software, …).
- You support the overall technical coherence of the project.
Qualifications
- Master's degree engineering in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics or equivalent with a background in control engineering.
- Experience in the development of control algorithms.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Experience with Matlab, Simulink and Simscape and dSPACE.
- Experience in validation, verification and performing test.
- Knowledge about development of (space)mechanisms is an asset.
- Experience in writing technical reports.
- Experience in ESA programs is an asset.
- Technical communication skills.
- Hands-on problem solving skills.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Willingness to travel.
Interested, but not sure you meet every single requirement? Research shows that men will apply to jobs when they meet only 60% of the requirements, but women and other minority groups may only apply if they're sure they meet 100%. If you were turning away because you don't meet 100%, well, we'd still like to hear from you - tell us how you're the best fit for the requirements you're sure you meet.
To accept positions and relocate to Redwire Space, candidates must
- have a police/criminal record check, that is not more than six months old.
- be approved by ITAR regulations.
