Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a 4th shift Electronics Test Technician to join our Sykesville, Maryland team. We are looking for an individual who is interested in expanding their skills and knowledge in electronics. In the Mission Systems sector, you’ll join our experts in developing systems and solutions that keep our world safe.
The selected candidate must be able to apply electronic principles to test and troubleshoot complex circuits and devices for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and large cabinet systems.
A Test Technician should also be proficient at using a broad range of measuring and monitoring equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, function/waveform generators, counters, power supplies, multi-meters, current sensors, voltage/current probes, etc.) to both perform the tests as specified and to troubleshoot down to the component level.
The Test Technician will perform acceptance test procedures that verify equipment function. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Selection, setup, calibration, and operation of simple to complex equipment and facilities over a broad spectrum of technologies in the process of testing a unit.
- Verification and validation of product & paperwork configuration, test processes, and test equipment setup, configuration, & calibration.
- Measuring, collecting, and recording of electrical performance data as required by the test specifications, as well as performing analysis and evaluation of the data to the test specification requirements.
- Preparing accurate and complete test reports of all recorded data for government submittal.
- Troubleshooting of systems, devices, test tools, processes, and/or test setups to locate and repair defective areas.
Acceptance Tests performed include, but not limited to, the following:
- Programming and Verification of Firmware, Software, & Programmable Logic Devices (PLD).
- Verification of assembly point-to-point wire/trace connections (Circuit Check) using either a wiring tabulation, wiring diagram, or schematic.
- Performance of Insulation Resistance and Dielectric Strength Tests to determine the effectiveness of the component or product’s insulation.
- Performance of Manual & Automated Full Load (Burn-in) tests.
- Performance of Manual & Automated Functional, Operational, & System Tests.
- Performance of other miscellaneous tests (e.g., Thermal, Liquid Cooling, Fiber Optic, etc.).
Test Technicians may be asked to support engineering efforts including:
- Assisting engineers in performance of design verification tests including the setup and operation of test equipment.
- Performing initial procedural tests on new and/or changed equipment to verify that the tests can be performed as specified.
- Performing maintenance and integration of peripherals.
- Performing Test Tool Calibration and Certification/Verification.
- Verifying schematics, diagrams, & wiring tabulations for product and test tools.
- Building/Constructing test tools & stations using schematics, diagrams, & wiring tabulations.
Duties will be performed onsite or at domestic/international locations while on field service assignment as required.
Employees working 4th shift (Friday-Sunday 6am to 6pm), work 36 hours per week but are paid for 40 hours. The twelve-hour shift start time is negotiable.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of electronics work experience troubleshooting complex circuits & devices or Associate of Science degree (or Technical degree) in electronic technology OR Graduate of a two-year, full time electronic technology school OR Six months of military electronics school with 2+ years of electronics work experience troubleshooting complex circuits & devices
- Proficiency using measuring and monitoring equipment such as oscilloscopes, function/waveform generators, power supplies, multi-meters, current sensors, and probes
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
- Ability to read and perform instructions in acceptance test procedures to verify equipment function
- Ability to perform troubleshooting on complex circuits and devices for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and large cabinet systems
- Ability to accept up to 10% travel to various physical domestic and international locations
- Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working in confined spaces, and standing for long periods of time
- Ability to perform assignments in locations which could cause various phobias due to height or enclosed spaces
- Ability to perform assignments in varying external and internal environmental conditions
- Ability to work around high voltage and current
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance; US citizenship is required.
- Must pass pre-employment skills assessment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using SAP Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software to document testing performed, enter test results, & create Quality Notifications for any discrepancies found
- Experience using National Instruments hardware and LabVIEW software to perform product testing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & TEAMS)
- Experience using Mission Product Lifecycle Management (MPLM) Engineering Configuration Management Software (Supersedes CADSTAR)
- Current, active Secret Clearance
- Military experience working with U.S. Navy electronic equipment/systems
- Experience with continuous improvement and process improvement principles
